UBC’s largest ever delegation of 12 faculty members and students will participate in person and virtually in the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) being held in Baku, Azerbaijan this month.This event brings together countries, civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to accelerate action. UBC holds “Official Observer” status and is allocated a set number of ‘badges’ that provide access to the negotiations and events.

2024 marks the 74th year that the University of British Columbia has hosted a Remembrance Day ceremony. All UBC students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend—to honour and remember all those who served in times of war, military conflict and peace.The university community is invited to join the event at the Vancouver campus War Memorial Gym on Nov. 11.

Despite the diversity of UBC’s 300-plus formal international partnerships, collaborations with the Global South are underrepresented.UBC Vancouver faculty can apply for funding to initiate or deepen collaboration with partners in the Global South. Over 3,000 UBC Vancouver students will graduate this Fall. Volunteers are needed to ensure smooth running of the 10 congregation ceremonies due to take place at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts from Nov. 27 to 29.
